Time to apply for the BPUB Project SHARE Scholarship

It’s that time again. The Brownsville Public Utilities Board is once again looking to award 10 scholarships, each worth $1,000, to graduating high school seniors through its Project SHARE Scholarship program.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior during the 2017-2018 school year.
  • Applicant must live in a household with a minimum of one year of utility service with BPUB at the application deadline date. The utility account must be in overall good standing. BPUB utility account must be the primary residence of the applicant at the time the scholarship is awarded.
  • Applicants must plan to attend an accredited institution of higher education in the United States. All majors qualify for the BPUB Project SHARE Scholarship.
  • Applicants must turn in all parts of the online application, including essay, academic verification form from school counselor/administrator and a copy of parent or guardian’s BPUB bill or statement of charges, by the deadline of 5 p.m. local time on Feb. 16, 2018. Late applications will automatically be disqualified.

This scholarship has become an annual tradition for BPUB, dating back to 2005 with more than 100 scholarships awarded in that time. To reduce the amount of paper used by applicants and BPUB and to simplify the process for the students and judging panel, the Project SHARE Scholarship is completely online.

Those interested in applying for the scholarship can do so online at www.brownsville-pub.com/about-us/share.
